Develop the Habits for Success in 2025

As a real estate professional, success isn’t merely about hard work. It’s about working smarter and being fueled by effective habits. Consistent habits ensure steady progress, even when motivation wanes. The habits you’ve cultivated can make or break your journey to success. Habits may seem minor, but they are the focus of your energy and attention every day. To achieve success in real estate, you have to develop great habits.

Habits of Success

Goals and your habits go hand in hand. The better your habits, the more likely you are to reach your goals. It sounds simple, but there’s more to it. Let’s say you set ambitious goals for the year ahead. You may start out the year on a high; since your motivation is high you’re feeling on track to reach your goals. However, a month or two into the year, your motivation may begin to wane. Your daily lead-generating activities may become less of a priority. You may go from doing your Power Hour daily to maybe twice a week. Over time, this may result in falling further and further away from your goal targets. At the end of the year, you’re left wondering where it all went wrong. For the answer, look to your habits.

Cultivating success habits

Cultivating successful habits begins with analysis, specifically reflecting on your current habits.

Maybe you figure out that your energy is on point in mid-morning. That may be the ideal time to tackle those more difficult or thought-centered tasks. Difficult may not mean the hardest task, but it may mean the task that’s hardest for YOU to tackle. If connecting with your network is nerve-wracking, save your Power Hour for when your energy is high. Put it on your calendar and be sure to keep that date with yourself.

Identify the habits that are holding you back

Everyone has habits that may impede success. Often, procrastination is the most common bad habit that many cite. Isn’t it easier to put things off until tomorrow? Then the excuses come: “I’m too tired to do it now; I’ll wait until tomorrow when I’m feeling more refreshed” or “It’s Monday/Friday and I don’t think my network will be responsive to my messages now anyway. I’ll just wait.” But it’s no easier to do the next day. Many continue to put it off and just make more excuses to justify doing so. In the end, the task is still undone.

Why are you procrastinating? It could be a matter of motivation. As a real estate professional, you may not have someone checking to make sure you do your Power Hours or fill your pipeline with potential leads. You have to motivate yourself and if you’re not feeling motivated, your business will suffer. What motivates you and keeps you motivated? Whether it’s procrastination, a lack of motivation, or something else, being honest with yourself will help you identify the things you do that may prevent you from succeeding.

Focus on the target

Now it’s time to replace your bad habits with great habits. This is where the work comes in. It’s one thing to have the intention to change your habits; it’s another to put in the work to make it happen. You have to be motivated and want to change your habits.

Start with your Why. By thinking about the reasons why you got into real estate in the first place, you can tap into your original intent and motivation. When you begin to feel yourself slipping back into bad habits, think of your Why to stay on track.

Schedule your day

In order to succeed, you have to work on your business and make it a priority in your day. In addition to working with your current customers and clients, it’s vital to continue to fill your pipeline with potential leads and nurture them. This means staying in touch with people in your database. CircleCloser makes it easy to stay connected by giving you a list of people to connect with these days. Just login and start connecting. It’s that easy!

But for many real estate professionals, just sitting down to reach out is hard. We often get so busy with everything else that pops up. If you want to succeed and achieve your goals, you have to resist distractions. That begins with adding it to your schedule. Whether you use a paper calendar or the one on your phone, schedule your Power Hour into your day. That way you can plan your day around it and make sure to get it done.

Practice daily

It takes time to cultivate successful habits. Although the amount of time it takes to build a habit is up for debate, the key thing to remember is it takes daily practice.

Lasting success is not immediate. It takes time. And you may not see results right away. However, they’ll come in time. Keep your focus on the daily practice of building your habits. In time, success will follow.
